The Windfarm Scam

John Etherington's book grew out of Country Guardian's campaign document The Case Against Windfarms. In the late seventies this became a key element in Country Guardian's website www.countryguardian.net.

This database is used around the world in the battle against windfarms, and we have decided to link it to the book. Tthe starting point is the book's Contents Page, which is reproduced on the website Home Page. This then links to some 12 web pages reflecting the contents, each of which links to others in the database, plus external sites.

As well as data supporting The Case Against Windfarms we have included where relevant material from "The Wind Rush Files", which were put put together for Country Guardian's newsletter Openview, and finally links to recent articles, news items, documents which bring the story up-to-date.

3.No wind, low wind - intermittent generation

This is the biggest issue cururently. "It could take 50 gigowatts of renewable energy generation to meet the EU target. But it would require up to 90% of this amount as backup from coal and gas plants to ensure supply when intermittent supplies were not avaoilable. That would push Britains installed thermal [non- renewable] powerbase from the existing 76 gigawatts to 120 gigawatts.
